beat

I’ve been wanting to put on my running shoes for weeks now. I miss the freedom, the feeling of the wind blowing against my hair, and the awareness that I’ll be burning a lot of calories. But no, I’m too tired (also, lazy) to get up early in the morning. Things are crazy-busy at work, what with everything Congress is trying to cram into two months. And, since despite the stress I still insist on having a social life, I usually arrive home around midnight, sometimes past, leaving very little time for sleep.

With everything that I’m trying to cram into my life, I feel like Buffy, minus the superpowers and the blond hair. Some of my friends told me I actually look like a vampire though, because of my “pale” skin (“I can also imagine you with fangs. You look like an Asian vampire,” a friend said). So, okay, not Buffy.

Anyway. I want a treadmill, really fast internet connection, heart-shaped glasses, a digital camera that won’t die on me for no apparent reason, more clothes including really nice dresses and miniskirts, and the forbidden.

Oh well.

>> “The Women” was actually kind of tolerable, and there were lots of funny moments if you choose not to watch it with a very critical eye. I’m still not a big fan of chick flicks–or chick lit, for that matter–but it was fun. I think it’s mostly because of the company; pretty much every trip with Rapi and Joey is hilarious.

>> “Quantum of Solace” was bleh. It wasn’t completely terrible, but it was forgettable. And no, that’s not just because I was distracted. Other critics found it lacking too; I don’t remember where I read this, but one review was titled “Bland. James Bland.” So true.

>> I promised lots of people I’d watch “Twilight” with them, including my 11-year old sister Jaz (because she got hold of my books and loved them), my mother (because she’s curious, she teaches elementary students who are crazy about the series), and Weng (who has the same that-series-is-so-overrated-but-oh-my-God-we-have-to-watch-the-movie stance).

I’ve now given up hope that I’ll ever be able to save up. I still owe a lot of people a lot of dinners. I have an ever-growing mental list of things to buy, including heart-shaped glasses *wink*. Saving up is just not…possible.

In other news, a pending story is ruining my relaxed state. Ugh. I feel bothered every time I think about it.

WordPress has this feature which shows what search terms people used to find your blog, and I was amused to discover that the leading search term for mine was “huge orgy” (I mentioned it in my Perfume post). I shall therefore bank on that term, and insert it every now and then in my posts, huge orgy. I bet my visit stats are soaring as I type, huge orgy.

Anyway, my friends think I should audition for sexy/emo roles using this picture which I shot while I was taking care of my baby cousin (hence the messed-up hair and the tired look).

Gah, I absolutely abhor it when someone calls me “emo.” It’s the ultimate insult, at least for me; I’d rather be called a slut, or a bitch–my friends call me that, anyway. We tend to have a very Mean Girls kind of relationship, only with more cussing, and without the “On Wednesdays we wear pink” rule. Hmm. Must explain why we’re all screwed up, emotionally.

We actually met up a few nights ago for Martsy’s birthday. Selected ditzy/pretentious quotes of the night:

Jam: So san siya nagtatrabaho ngayon?
Martsy: Sa North Carolina.
Glads: Diba malapit yun sa…
Jam: South Carolina?
Glads: I’m sure.

*Girl talk girl talk girl talk*
Jam: Anong akala niyo sa ‘kin, malandi?
*Martsy and Masol fall silent as they try to take that in, Glads cusses out loud, and Weng buries her face in her hands. I was compelled to apologize for the sheer pretentiousness of the statement, haha*

We also talked substantially about the global financial crisis and its effect on the stock market, the performance-based rate scheme that the country’s biggest power distributor is adopting now, and the Great Depression and how we would know so much more about it had we not skipped lots of Economics 100.1 classes just to hang out.
